Timothy Julian's doctoral dissertation research, on fomite-mediated disease transmission, was conducted under the advising of Prof. Ali Boehm in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Stanford University. He started the Pathogens and Human Health research group in the Department of Environmental Microbiology (Umik) at Eawag in May 2014.  Previously, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow in Environmental Health Sciences at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health working with Prof. Kellogg Schwab. His research included work on environmental transmission of enteric disease in low and middle income countries and viral evolution in response to stressors.
