Department of Environmental Earth Systems Science
Stanford’s Department of Environmental Earth System Science (EESS) focuses on human-caused and natural environmental change at the local to global scale. Coursework, research opportunities, and graduate degree programs are available in multiple research areas related to water, health and development. For example, faculty and students in EESS work on issues related to sustainable agricultural production in the face of increasing water scarcity, as well as contaminant and nutrient cycling through surface and groundwater systems. Visit the EESS website for more information about the department’s degree programs and application process.
